Com: Beetle(s)

Hi, I'm Vern from Project Comment projectcomment.deviantart.com/ and I am critiquing you for More Exposure #25.
Here is your critique.

First Thoughts - I don't know what the blue creature is, maybe a Pokemon.  What I do like about the picture is that there is such a look of wonder on the creature's face as it looks at the beetle.  That was well done.

Background - The background is excellent is that it allows you to focus on the creature.  Good job.

Beetle - It is well rendered and blue is my favorite color.  But there can be such a thing as too much blue. The beetle doesn't stand out and it tends to blend in with the figure. It blends in with the claws.

Claws - If they are dark blue fingers then it's okay but if they are claws. Well, claws don't bend.  

Creature - I am not sure what the creature is.  The head looks good you can see the expression on it.  I like the yellow jawbone. It is a good break from the sea of blue.  I think that the main creature is some sort of beetle.  The back wings are a nice contrast in that they are dark blue.  The creature is pretty well drawn.

Conclusion - All in all, this is a pretty good rendering of the subject.  It was a pleasure critiquing you and may you make many more good commissions.
